The history of Chagrin Falls, Ohio, includes the development of several religious congregations that served the spiritual and social needs of the growing community.
St. Martin’s Episcopal Church began with a group of 21 families who met at the Chagrin Valley Little Theatre in 1953. Together, they formed the St. Martin’s Episcopal Mission, establishing the foundation for a new congregation serving the Chagrin Valley area.
Four years later, the cornerstone was laid for the church on Solon Road in Bentleyville. In 1956, the Episcopal Diocese of Ohio formally accepted the congregation as a parish.
Over the following years, St. Martin’s Episcopal Church expanded its facilities to accommodate a growing membership. Its development reflects the expansion of religious institutions throughout the Chagrin Valley during the postwar era.
